Sony to Launch its Xperia 10 and 10 Plus Smartphones at MWC 2019

Sony is all set to launch their new mid-range smartphones at MWC this month. Earlier speculations hinted that these new mid-range smartphones are likely to be called as Sony XA3 and XA3 Plus, however, a new report emerged online states that the company will most likely launch these phones as – the Sony Xperia 10 and 10 Plus. After the XA series being discontinued, it is believed that new name game would hopefully offer a better start to Sony this year. These devices are said to be unveiled on February 25th at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona.

Apart from the name change scheme, the report from Winfuture also suggests that the Sony Xperia 10 and 10 Plus would be sharing identical design elements apart from the display sizes. The Sony Xperia 10 is said to be featuring a 5.9-inch display, and the 10 Plus is supposed to have a bigger 6.5-inch screen. Both the phones are likely to come with an aspect ratio of 21:9, which is higher than the current maximum standard of 19.5:9 in the mid-range segment. The images of both the devices reveal a big forehead (instead of a notch) to hide the front camera and sensors, and a noticeable small chin at the bottom as well.

Though the Xperia devices share an identical design, they differ in specifications. The Sony Xperia 10 is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 octa-core processor and the larger 10 Plus is said to be equipped with a Snapdragon 660 SoC. On the storage, a 3GB and 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of onboard storage are said to featuring in the Xperia 10 and 10 Plus respectively.

In terms of optics, the Xperia 10 will be featuring a 13MP primary sensor along with the depth sensing 5MP sensor on the rear and an 8MP front-facing camera. And, on the Xperia 10 Plus, it is stated to have a 12MP primary sensor and an 8MP secondary sensor for portrait shots. Lastly, on the battery front, the Sony Xperia 10 would be featuring a 2870mAh battery, and the larger 10 Plus variant battery is yet to be known, according to the report. These Xperia devices would also be featuring Hi-Res audio along with the 3.5mm headphone jack as well.

As for the pricing, the Xperia 10 is expected to cost around 349 euros (around Rs 28,000) and the 10 Plus about 429 euros (approx Rs 35,000).
