Xiaomi Mi 8 Flagship Smartphone with Notch Display Teased to Launch in India

Xiaomi will be unveiling the 2018 flagship smartphone Mi 8 at its annual launch event tomorrow in Shenzhen, China. The company will be launching the Mi 8 & Mi 8 SE smartphones with notch displays. The Mi 8 will also feature Infrared face recognition technology that works similar to the Face ID on the Apple iPhone X. This is also the first time, we will be seeing a Xiami smartphone featuring notch display.

While there are leaks about the features and specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 8 smartphone, the company is now teasing about its global launch. The latest on Weibo suggests the company might soon launch the device in India, Vietnam, Thailand, Russia, Spain, France, Italy, and Egypt. While the company has been in a strong position in Asian markets, the company recently set its foot in several Europen markets.

In India, the Xiaomi Mi 5 launched in 2016 is the company’s last flagship smartphone under the Mi-series. Last year, it brought the Mi MIX 2 smartphone to India and it failed to compete with other flagship devices like OnePlus 5T. Talking about the Xiaomi Mi 8, the device comes with a 6.2-inch Full HD+ (2280 x 1080 pixels) display with a notch on the top.

Under the hood, it comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform coupled with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. In terms of optics, the Mi 8 sports AI-equipped dual rear cameras featuring 20MP & 16MP sensors. For selfies, there will be a 16MP single camera on the front. It will be running on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI out of the box.

Along with the Mi 8 and Mi 8 SE smartphones, the company will also unveil the all-new Mi Band 3 fitness tracker. Xiaomi is also teasing to unveil a few more products from its subsidiary brands. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
