The Motorola One Power looks to be the company’s second Android One smartphone

Motorola One Power Android Headlines

  • Motorola will reportedly launch the One Power smartphone sometime in the near future.
  • The One Power is an Android One smartphone with a tall display and a notch.
  • Motorola might announce the One Power alongside the rumored Moto Z3 Play.

With the Lenovo-owned Motorola set to announce the rumored Moto Z3 Play any day now, the company might not stop there and also launch the Motorola One Power, reported Android Headlines.

According to a “reliable source,” the One Power eschews the Moto branding and returns to the Motorola branding of yore. Lenovo originally decided to dissolve the Motorola name and instead use “Moto by Lenovo.” Lenovo then reverted back to Motorola Moto branding, though the One Power looks to be the first phone in some time to only feature Motorola branding.

As for the One Power name, it reportedly refers to the phone being Motorola’s second Android One smartphone, with the first being the Moto X4. We do not know if the One Power will also be available through the Google Store or have a version without Android One branding, though this is good news for those who want timely Android updates.

Do not let the name fool you, however. There is a chance that the One Power is a repackaged Moto X5, which was reportedly abandoned amid reports of layoffs at Motorola’s Chicago offices.

In terms of looks, the One Power reportedly features the polarizing and increasingly popular notch at the top. The render shows off a particularly wide notch, which will further irk those who already dislike the design trend that seemingly started with the Essential Phone.

Editor's Pick

At least the One Power reportedly features slim bezels along the sides, while the small chin at the bottom makes room for Motorola branding. Around back is a vertically-arranged dual camera setup and fingerprint sensor.

Specifications are unknown, though most modern Android One devices feature a Snapdragon 600-series chipset, at least 32GB of storage, and a decently sized battery. The One Power might even feature the recently-announced Snapdragon 710, so keep your fingers crossed.

Finally, Motorola might announce the One Power either June 6 alongside the Moto Z3 Play or by itself. Either way, the One Power will reportedly launch in the U.S. and other countries.
