The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is the newest entry in the popular budget-friendly fitness wearable device series. It boasts a larger 1.1-inch AMOLED color display and magnetic charging support for its 100mAh battery. It tracks 11 sport modes, including new ones like yoga, jump roping, and more. There are also improvements in sleep monitoring, a new women’s health features, and much more. The version sold internationally lacks some features that are in the Chinese version, unfortunately. The Chinese version adds NFC support, a new voice assistant, and a new blood oxygen tracking feature.

However, the international version still has a ton of features for a budget-priced fitness wearable. In Europe, the cost is just €39.99 and in the UK, the price is £39.99, both under the name Mi Smart Band 5. It’s also available via third parties in the US on Amazon for the price of about $45.
The Mi Band 5 is a big upgrade from the previous version of this device, the Xiaomi Mi Band 4, making it worth the purchase for many owners of the older product. If you own a Mi Band 4 and have bought a nice collection of straps to customize it, you might be wondering, “Does the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 work with Mi Band 4 bands?” That’s the question we are going to answer right now, and unfortunately, it’s not the answer many will want to hear.
Does the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 work with Mi Band 4 bands?
Unfortunately, the Mi Band 5 is incompatible with the older Mi Band 4 bands. Simply put, the 1.1-inch display on the Mi Band 5 is larger than the Mi Band 4 straps, which were made for a different design and a smaller 0.95-inch display.
We tried putting the Mi Band 5 tracker module inside the Mi Band 4’s included silicone band. It fits, but just barely, and it doesn’t latch into place. We wouldn’t recommend doing this, especially if you’re planning on working out with the device.
If you need a new Xiaomi Mi Band 5 bands, you’re in luck — a bunch are already available on Amazon.
