We’ve been hearing a lot about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series of late. Most of the latest rumors have come from CEO of Display Chain Consultants, Ross Young who’s been busy tweeting insider information about the upcoming flagship series.

Now, in an exclusive interview with YouTube channel Greggles TV, Young has outed more details about the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Plus. He talks about everything from RAM to in-display fingerprint tech, battery size, and more in the 10-minute-long Q&A session. Let’s break down that new information for you.

New fingerprint sensing tech

To start with, Young says that both the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Plus may be the first to feature Qualcomm’s second-gen 3D Sonic Max fingerprint reader. The large ultrasonic fingerprint sensor was introduced back in December and can read two fingerprints at the same time.

The sensor’s predecessor didn’t work so well on the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 phones. However, the new sensor is 17 times larger than the last one and promises faster unlocking speeds. With its ability to recognize two fingerprints at the same time, the sensor could also help enhance security on the phones.

Punch-hole position remains unchanged

Young goes on to say that the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Plus will have the same selfie camera position as the Note 10 series. This means that the punch hole on the display will remain in the center of the screen, as was also the case on the Galaxy S20 series.

Thanks to Young’s previous leaks, we can expect a 6.42-inch display on the Galaxy Note 20 and a 6.87-inch screen on the Note 20 Plus.

Other specs

Just like the current Galaxy S20 flagships, the Galaxy Note 20 series will also top out at 16GB RAM, as per Young. He expects the two phones to have large batteries ranging between 4,000mAh and 5,000mAh. Those are pretty much the same battery sizes as the Galaxy S20 phones. However, they’re on the higher side compared to the Note 10 series which topped out at a 4,300mAh battery (and 3,500mAh for the vanilla Note 10)

He also says that the larger Note 20 Plus will have a bigger battery compared to the regular Note 20, but that’s also pretty much what we expected from Samsung.

Expected release date

Samsung usually launches the Galaxy Note series in August and Young expects that to remain unchanged. According to him, the phones will release alongside the Galaxy Fold 2 in early August and will go on sale later that month, or early September.

So that sums up pretty much everything Young revealed about the upcoming Note 20 series in the interview. You can read all about previous Note 20 rumors at the previous link.
