Earlier this year, Xiaomi made the Redmi as a separate brand in China. In this short span, it already introduced Redmi-branded accessories along with a couple of smartphone launches. In the coming month’s, the company will also unveil the Redmi branded flagship smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform. There are already tons of leaks about this device. It is even said to come with a pop-up selfie camera.
According to William Lu, vice president of Xiaomi Group and general manager of Redmi in China, the Snapdragon 855-powered Redmi Smartphone won’t come with a pop-up selfie camera. We think, the company will opt for a waterdrop notch display or punch-hole display. As of now, there is no other official information about this upcoming device. Xiaomi already has two Snapdragon 855-powered smartphones under its portfolio – Mi MIX 3 5G and Mi 9.
Later this year, Xiaomi’s another sub-brand POCO will be coming up with POCO F2 as the successor to POCO F1. Just like its predecessor, the POCO F2 will also be one of the most affordable smartphone to feature the latest Snapdragon 800- series chipset. Last month, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7 Pro as the most affordable smartphone to use the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor.
The Redmi Note 7 Pro sports a 6.3-inch waterdrop notch display with Full HD+ (2340 ×1080 pixels) display and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is powered by the 11nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 Mobile Platform coupled with Kryo 460 CPU and Adreno 612 GPU. While there is a 48MP + 5MP dual camera setup on the rear, it comes with a 13MP single selfie camera on the front.
It also opted for the P2i nano-coating technology which makes the device splash-proof. Even though the upcoming Redmi smartphone comes with Snapdragon 855 chipset, we think the company will stick with the IPS display and plastic body to keep the price low. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
