Back in 2016, Apple launched the true wireless earbuds called AirPods. Later in 2017, the company also teased a new variant with a wireless charging case which was then expected to be launched alongside the AirPower wireless charging pad. Now in 2019, the company finally launched the second-gen AirPods with the wireless charging case. It is priced at Rs 18,900 (in the US – $199) and will be in the coming months.
The company is also selling just the wireless charging case for the existing AirPods users for Rs 7,500 (in the US – $79). The second-gen AirPods with the standard charging case can be purchased for Rs 14,900 (in the US – $159). In the US, these new AirPods can be purchased online starting today. These new AirPods sport the new Apple H1 chip which offers 50% better battery life than the first-gen AirPods.
It also brings the hands-free “Hey Siri” support for using Apple’s virtual assistant. The users can just ask Siri to call or text anyone without the phone in their hands. With the H1 chip, the connection time with the devices will be two times faster. Both the standard and wireless charging cases will come with a lighting port for charging. Addiotnaly, the wireless charging case can be charged with the Qi wireless chargers, but not iPhones.
In the US, the company is now offering free engraving option for the first time for AirPods. Earlier this month, Apple also launched the 10.5-inch iPad Air & 7.9-inch iPad Mini powered by Apple A12 Bionic chip.
